Ibrahim Mbaye has written his name into the history books after becoming the youngest player to both score and provide an assist for Senegal, achieving the feat in only his second appearance for the national team.

The 17-year-old made his senior debut last Saturday in London, coming on for the final 15 minutes in Senegal’s 2–0 defeat to Brazil. Handed his first start by coach Pape Thiaw just days later, the Paris Saint-Germain youngster seized the opportunity in spectacular fashion.

Mbaye played a central role in Senegal’s commanding 8–0 win over Kenya, scoring once and supplying two assists — one for El Hadji Malick Diouf and another for Sadio Mané. His contribution sets a new benchmark: at 17 years, 9 months and 25 days, he is now the youngest goal-scorer and assist provider in the history of the Lions of Teranga.

The standout display is a significant boost for the teenager as he pushes for a place in Senegal’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Despite making 14 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this season, ten in Ligue 1, three in the Champions League, and one in the UEFA Super Cup, Mbaye had yet to record a goal or an assist at club level before his breakout international performance. (Foot Africa)
